Winky D is one of the most prominent zimdancehall artists who never fade. His music genre as well as his timely release of his albums and singles makes him remain on the top with a few others while other artists dangle below.
He has made Zimbabwe proud by being nominated as well as winning the African Entertainment Awards USA (AEAUSA). For some, the award came as a surprise due to the fact that he is the only Zimbabwean artist to get the the AEAUSA Award this year.
While for others it was obvious.
He is a Zimbabwean reggae-dancehall artist, known popularly as “The Big Man”, and also known as Dancehall Igwe, Gaffa, Proffesor etc. He is often considered the Zimdancehall pioneer. He was born in Kambuzuma, Harare the capital of Zimbabwe.
He has collaborated with various artists from different countries and genres. These include Oliver ‘tuku’ Mtukudzi, Gemma, Jah Prayzah, Buffalo Souljah, and jah cure.
His latest album was released in December 2019 is titled ‘Njema’. This album has taken his fans through the difficult times of 2020 and landed them to his singles. One of these is called ‘Reply‘ and it has taken the media by storm, awaiting for the final shutdown on 31 December.
