The University of Zimbabwe says it has reached a deal with two leading mobile network operators that will see students being granted elearning mobile data.
The allocation allows students to access sites approved by the University. From what we can tell these bundles, if you can call them that, are different from the general elearning bundles that Econet and NetOne are selling.
The unnamed mobile network operators will essentially zero-rate these approved sites. This means that when students whose numbers have been entered into the mobile network operator database access these websites their data would not be affected.
As implied by the last statement this is not an automatic process.
However, the process is therefore not a once off event as some students have just received their data while others are still expecting. Other students have already finished theirs. This lack of uniformity in as far as the distribution of the bundles remains questionable.
