This could be a massive day in terms of Messi’s future with his father Jorge set to hold showdown talks with club president Josep Maria Bartomeu after arriving in Barcelona this morning and we will, of course, notify you of any developments the moment they happen.

One club have publicly ruled themselves out of any pursuit of the Argentine superstar though, with Inter sporting director Piero Ausilio discussing the rumours with Sky Sport Italia.

“There’s no team that wouldn’t want him but the reality is different,” he said. “We’ll be careful and thoughtful in the market so there is nothing between Messi and Inter.”

Having been linked strongly with Manchester United despite renewing his contract in July until 2023, Dayot Upamecano seemed to suggest a move isn’t entirely outside the realms of possibility.

“I feel good here but it is true that I’m in great demand,” the defender told Yahoo Sports. “I have spoken with clubs but I’m in no rush so we’ll see what happens in the future.”

Goal report that Atlético Madrid midfielder Thomas Partey has made it known to Arsenal that he wants to join them – but the Gunners must make sales before a move for him can be contemplated.

One of those departures could come from Hector Bellerín, with the Guardian reporting that Paris Saint-Germain have made an offer in the region of €35 million, although Juventus and Bayern Munich are also monitoring him.

Real Madrid midfielder James Rodríguez is expected to complete his move to Everton ‘imminently’, per the Telegraph, and will sign a three-year deal, although the final fee is not clear yet.

Finally, the Daily Mail report that José Mourinho is eager to offload Tottenham’s record signing Tanguy Ndombele if a buyer can be found this summer and is also willing to allow Serge Aurier to move on.

Any speculation that Messi’s ‘strike’ has soured his relationship with his team-mates has been rubbished by Frenkie de Jong, who revealed that he is still a prominent member of the team’s WhatsApp group – but didn’t reveal if he’s been active recently.

The Sun exclusive that Manchester United will not give up on Jadon Sancho until he publicly insists he doesn’t want to leave Dortmund did amuse us too. It isn’t happening. When are they going to realise that?
