The Jets are the frontrunners for Deshaun Watson if the Texans consider a trade, a report says
Watson can join Robert Saleh at New York
The Miami Dolphins are reportedly the second option for Watson but makes more sense
The Houston Texans will try to keep Deshaun Watson in the fold even though it is no secret that the 25-year-old is pretty unhappy with the team. Should he insist on moving out, there are two teams that the three-time Pro Bowler reportedly has in mind.

The New York Jets and Miami Dolphins are Watson’s top two choices for trade destinations, Armand Salguero of the Miami Herald reported. But the former is reportedly his top choice because New York hired the coach he was planning to back for the Texans – Robert Saleh.

It can be recalled that Watson recommended Saleh to be interviewed by the Texans. However, Houston reportedly ignored that despite initially promising to listen to Watson’s input for the head coaching job.

But if Watson wants to join a more competitive team, the wise choice would be the Dolphins. They have a better roster compared to the Jets, which are in rebuild mode.

However, Watson may want to be part of something big and patiently wait with the Jets. While that could make sense, the Texans may want to know first what New York can offer them.

Among the assets that the Jets have are an extra first-round pick this year and in 2022. These were procured in the Jamal Adams trade. Other than that, the Jets also own the rights to a second-overall pick in the 2021 NFL Draft.

As of this writing, the Texans have shown no indication of entertaining a trade for Watson. It may take much to get Houston to agree and the picks that the Jets own may not be enough.
