Juventus are set to sign Alvaro Morata on loan
Morata mostly will be replaced by Luis Suarez at Atletico Madrid
Morata played for Juventus between 2014 and 2016
Atletico Madrid’s Alvaro Morata is set to return to Juventus as an agreement reportedly has been reached between the two clubs. Morata is expected to be replaced by FC Barcelona’s Luis Suarez at Atletico.
Juventus shared photos and videos of Morata landing in Turin ahead of his medicals with the Allianz Stadium side.
Soccer website Goal confirmed that 27-year-old striker Morata will join Juventus on loan in a deal that will cost Atletico Madrid $11 million. The deal will also include an option to buy Morata for $52 million.
Juventus started their Serie A defense with an excellent 3-0 win Sunday, but Andrea Pirlo had been looking for a forward to strengthen his squad for the Champions League, a trophy Juventus have not won since 1996.
“@AlvaroMorata is back in town!” Juventus tweeted with a picture of the forward just outside the customs door.
Morata first joined Juventus in the summer of 2014. He represented The Old Lady for two seasons, where he netted 27 goals in as many as 93 competitive matches. He won the Serie A titles in both the seasons with Juventus apart from three other trophies.
At the end of the 2015-16 season, Morata returned to Real Madrid, where he had spent four seasons between 2010 and 2014. The Spanish forward remained with Los Blancos only for one campaign, which was a pretty great one for him as he had netted 20 goals in 43 matches, helping the Spanish giants win the Champions League, Super Cup, and FIFA Club World Cup.
After a successful 2016-17 season with Real Madrid, Morata made his way to the Premier League after Chelsea signed him for $76 million. He played for The Blues for two seasons, where he scored 24 goals in 72 matches, before he returned to La Liga after Atletico acquired his signatures in the 2018 summer. He scored 22 goals across tournaments in 67 matches for Atletico, but unfortunately, could not win a single trophy with Diego Simeone’s side.
Earlier, Juventus tried to sign Barcelona forward Suarez for $12 million, but the deal did not go through. It is understood that with Morata moving to Juventus, Atletico are close to sealing Suarez’s deal, who is expected to move to the Spanish capital as a free agent.
