“JERUSALEMA” is a song by South African DJ and record producer Master KG featuring South African vocalist Nomcebo. The upbeat gospel-influenced house song was initially released on 29 November 2019 and since then, it is taking social media by storm.

The song was produced 11 months ago but is still being appreciated even after the Zimbabwean music industry has produced several hits such as Donhodzo by Jah Prayzah, Rovai ngoma by Mukudzei Jnr and Hello Mwari by Jah Master among others.

To some, the song brings solace to the world which was and still is devastated by the covid 19 pandemic. The fear, uncertainty as well as helplessness faced by the whole world pushes one to enjoy, appreciate and embrace the song as an escape from this harsh reality.


To others it is a song of hope. Taking into consideration the Christian values and biblical allusion of the “ideal city” Jerusalem where the saints are going to be comforted after death. The song brings to light the idea that this world is not an accommodating home.


While these find useful inspiration from the song, a number of people embraces the choreography by accepting what is known as the Jerusalema challenge whereby a group of dancers record and post a video of themselves dancing to the song.


Other institutions like the rehabilitation centers, hospitals, travel and tourism centers, hospitals as well as schools in Africa and beyond has soon joined in the Jerusalema challenge showcasing their talents.


Companies like Arimah, Bitumen world Zimbabwe ,Z.B.C Mtetwa and Nyambirai legal practitioners among others have also taken this opportunity to market their products and services in the name of Jerusalema,
