Manuel Lanzini’s screamer, which completed West Ham’s stunning comeback against Tottenham back in October, has been named October Premier League Goal of the Month.

The Hammers found themselves 3-0 down inside 16 minutes in north London, with Harry Kane and Son Heung-min running riot for Jose Mourinho’s side. It took until the 82nd minute to kickstart the fightback, and the visitors were only a goal behind as the game entered injury-time.

With David Moyes’ men pushing for a winner and the clock ticking towards the 95th minute, the ball spilled out to Lanzini after a heavy touch from Harry Winks and he did the rest.

The substitute struck the ball first-time and watched it rocket towards the top corner, with Huge Lloris’ fingertips only able to make the strike look sweeter – brushing the ball onto the underside of the bar before it cannoned into the net.

Lanzini’s shirt came off and the Hammers celebrated wildly, with boss David Moyes even indulging in a hop, skip and jump.

The strike kept West Ham’s momentum rolling after back-to-back wins against Wolves and Leicester, propelling the east Londoners to 12th for the international break.

‘It was hugely satisfying to score this goal, which had so much significance,’ Lanzini told his club’s website.

‘When I came onto the pitch, I was just thinking about what I could do to help the team. I never anticipated what was going to happen, but these things do happen in football.

‘I think it is one of the best goals I’ve scored in the Premier League so far, if not the best. It was very emotional for everyone. The team celebration was the best!

‘It’s been a strange year for me, with a lot of ups and downs.

‘I haven’t been able to consolidate my position in the team, but this goal has boosted my confidence, I’m back in form and it shows what I can do.’
