Every Arsenal player available in Mikel Arteta’s squad ahead of the Premier League clash against Everton at Goodison Park.
Arsenal will be looking to finally record another Premier League victory this evening.
The Arsenal squad are back in action three days after drawing at home against Southampton. They take on a Everton side who have beaten Chelsea and Leicester City in their last two games.
However, It finished goalless in the corresponding fixture last season and Arsenal return to Goodison Park on the one-year anniversary of Mikel Arteta’s appointment having won just once in their last nine Premier League games.
With his side languishing in 15th place ahead of kick-off, Arteta has reflected on his time in charge at the Emirates Stadium and will be hopeful of having a reason to celebrate come the full-time whistle.
“Well, I think it’s been one of the most challenging years of the club’s history. For many, many different reasons. I think that we have made a lot of progress and we have implement a lot of positives here that have worked really, really well,” Arteta said in his pre-match press conference.
“We have gone through structural changes all across the club that obviously has shaken the club big time. I would say the highlights of that year is the two trophies that we won together. And the most disappointing thing is that we haven’t had our fans with us to take us through this difficult moment.
“I think it could have been a really, really positive year but the recent form in the Premier League has taken the gloss of what we have done in a calendar year.
“But we have to accept that our Premier League form in recent weeks has not been good enough.
For this evening’s game on Merseyside, Arteta will be without as many five-team players.
Sokratis and Mesut Ozil are ineligible having not been registered in the Premier League squad, while Thomas Partey misses out with a thigh injury.
Granit Xhaka is also unavailable as he serves the second of his three-match ban following his red card in the 1-0 defeat at the hands of Burnley six days ago and Gabriel Magalhaes is also suspended after being sent-off against Southampton.
Gabriel Martinelli is back in full training following knee surgery and was pencilled for action with the U23’s yesterday.
However, the 19-year-old wasn’t included in the squad to face Leicester City and some fans believe he will be part of the travelling squad after Arteta said the Brazilian was close to being available.
With that said, Hector Bellerin is available again after serving a one-match ban of his own and Arteta still has plenty of options available to him.
