8️⃣ things to look out for on transfer deadline day

And who knows, maybe something big is lurking just around the corner. Here are some of the bigger stories to keep an eye on as the window closes.

Dele Alli’s future

Staying at Spurs or heading to PSG? On loan? Option to buy?

It seems insane to think Alli has played just 75 minutes in the Premier League all season and not started since the opening day but could still remain in north London. Will a move finally be sealed? He’ll hope so.

Liverpool need a centre-back

This has been the case all month, but it’s even more urgent with Fabinho injured and Joël Matip now out again.

Jürgen Klopp has sounded more and more like a move is likely to happen and it sounds like they could now get TWO, with Ben Davies of Preston and Duje Ćaleta-Car of Marseille now linked.

Christian Eriksen set to stay?

Now likely to remain at Inter after a month of the club trying to shift him, don’t rule out a move to Tottenham, especially if it opens up Dele Alli’s exit route.

Permanent Lucas Torreira switch?

Arsenal midfielder Lucas Torreira has spent the first half of the season on loan with Atlético Madrid, where has has started just three times in LaLiga.

Reports last week suggested that loan could end early with Arsenal then selling the midfielder, who has been linked with a permanent switch to Monaco.

Is the Arsenal squad too big?

A bunch of Arsenal players are being linked with loan switched away from the club.

All lacking game time, interest has been shown in Ainsley Maitland-Niles (Leicester, Southampton, West Brom), Reiss Nelson (Real Betis, Villarreal), and Joe Willock (Newcastle) but will any of them actually leave?

And does anyone want to take Shkodran Mustafi six months before his contract is up?

Wonderkid Joshua Zirkzee to leave Bayern

It seemed like Zirkzee had a breakthrough season in 2019/20, then Bayern signed Eric-Maxim Choupo-Moting.

Zirkzee has barely featured since and was linked with Everton this month, but a loan (with option to buy) move to Parma is now on the cards instead.

Big bucks in Berlin

We aren’t expecting much movement in the Bundesliga, but Hertha BSC could be busy.

They’re set to sign World Cup winner Sami Khedira from Juventus and could also sign Werder Bremen’s Milot Rashica, if the clubs can come to an agreement.

Hamza Choudhury exit?

Sunday saw Demarai Gray leave Leicester, but could Choudhury follow him?

The midfielder has played just 70 minutes in the Premier League all season and has been linked with a loan move, with Newcastle believed to be interested.
